Maintenance Aide
Must have a high school diploma or have passed the General Education Development (GED) test. Apprenticeship skill of at least one year, or equivalent experience in one of the following crafts: electrical, refrigeration, plumbing, carpentry, or utility service. Refrigerant certification as required by 40 CFR part 82 Subpart f. Equivalent experience as a general utility or maintenance mechanic in an industrial or commercial establishment is also acceptable. Must be physically able to perform duties which involve bending, climbing, and heavy lifting. Possess ability to operate tractors, lawnmowers saws, and small power tools, and to make minor repairs to grass cutting equipment. Be able to travel, operate a motor vehicle, and meet Housing Authority drive approval standards. Loss of vehicle operator license, or insurability by employer, will result in employee not being able to perform the duties of this position.
Maintenance Laborer
Previous experience as a laborer or maintenance worker is desirable. Must be physically able to perform duties which involve bending, climbing, heavy lifting, and other strenuous activities. Possess ability to operate tractors, lawnmowers, saws, and small power tools, and to make minor repairs to grass cutting equipment. The ability to travel, operate a motor vehicle, and meet Housing Authority driver approval standards is desirable.
Clerk Typist/Assistant Manager
High school graduate (or GED certificate) and ability to type 40 words per minute. Ability to organize, plan, counsel and maintain effective working relationships both internally and externally is essential. Ability to communicate clearly and courteously with staff, tenants, landlords and other contacts (both verbally and in writing). Requires computer literacy in Microsoft equipment (Word, Access, and Excel) and must be able to navigate the Internet and use HUD websites for PIC, EIV and PHA-Web). Physical ability adequate to inspect Housing Authority property, including physical ability to climb stairs. Be able to travel, operate a motor vehicle, and meet Housing Authority driver approval standards. Loss of vehicle operator license or insurability by employee will result in employee not being able to perform the duties of this position. Successful candidate for this position must obtain a Certified Professional of Occupancy (CPO) certification before becoming eligible for advancement to an Assistant Property Manager position.
